Therapeutic Optometrist

As a Therapeutic Optometrist, Dr. Bosak is capable of diagnosing and treating a wide variety of eye disorders including Glaucoma, Dry Eyes, Allergies, Eye infections, Cataracts, and Macular Degeneration. Patient conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and many autoimmune diseases may manifest in the eye without visible symptoms to the patient. Early detection and treatment are critical in preventing irreversible damage. We incorporate the latest medical training and technology to help diagnose and treat these diseases.

Comprehensive Eye Exams

At Goodrich Optical Comprehensive Eye Exam goes above and beyond the refraction to determine your eyeglass prescription. Our doctor will review your medical history and refractive changes.  Giving you a thorough evaluation of your eye health. We guarantee to provide you with an extensive look into your vision and a detailed explanation of any concerns you may have.

Cataract Evaluation

A cataract is a clouding or opaque area over the lens of the eye– an area that is normally transparent. As this thickening occurs, it prevents light rays from passing through the lens and focusing on the retina. This clouding is caused when some of the protein which makes up the lens begins to clump together and interferes with vision.

In its early stages, a cataract does not generally cause any problems. The cloudiness may affect only a small part of the lens. However, over time, the cataract may grow denser, and /or affect a larger area of the lens, making it harder to see. Dr. Bosak will monitor and evaluate your cataract as it matures, and when you and he agree it’s time, we will coordinate with the surgeon to have your cataract removed and help protect and monitor your vision post-operatively.

Diabetic Eye Health Testing

The longer you have diabetes, and the less controlled your blood sugar is, the more likely you are to develop diabetic retinopathy. Diabetic retinopathy is a complication of diabetes that affects the eyes. It’s caused by damage to the blood vessels of the light-sensitive tissues at the back of the eye (retina). Left untreated, diabetic retinopathy can result in blindness.

To protect your vision, take prevention seriously. Start by carefully controlling your blood sugar level and keeping your yearly (or more frequently, if needed) eye exams. It’s possible to have diabetic retinopathy and not even know it. In fact, it’s uncommon to have symptoms in the early stages. As the condition progresses, symptoms may include:

• Spots or dark strings floating in your vision (floaters)
• Blurred vision
• Fluctuating vision
• Dark or empty areas in your vision
• Vision loss
• Difficulty with color perception

Glaucoma

A Comprehensive Eye Health Evaluation includes checking for symptoms of glaucoma. To make a diagnosis, the doctor may measure corneal thickness, check the pressure inside your eyes, test for changes to your vision, evaluate your retinas and optic nerve head, and assess abnormal eye anatomy. If glaucoma is caught early, further vision loss can be prevented. Treatments commonly include medications to reduce intraocular pressure or surgery. Once detected, our skilled doctor will determine if glaucoma may be the underlying cause.

Dry Eye Management

Dry eye is a chronic inflammatory condition that can cause irritation, vision distortion and an increased risk of eye infections.  At Goodrich Optical, Dr. Bosak will provide dry eye patients with the treatment and managed care needed to help protect their corneal surface. Over time these treatments can significantly improve the quality of vision and comfort for our patients.

Co-Management before and after Surgery

Dr. Bosak and our staff are available for your surgical co-management needs before and after any ophthalmic surgery.  As your eye care team, we can schedule and prepare you for LASIK, cataract and other ocular surgeries that you may elect, and we will work with your surgeon to establish the best follow up care for your needs.

Advanced Testing for Medical Conditions

Dr. Bosak and the staff at Goodrich Optical are equipped to offer specialized testing to manage and treat a number of ocular health conditions. Our staff members are trained and ready to perform any test recommended by the doctor. Our in-office testing includes the most up-to-date technologies in order to better improve the quality of care for your eye health needs.

Low Vision Management

Reduced eyesight is common in most eye diseases but can also be inherited or caused by an injury. Let Dr. Bosak provide you with a diligent look into your low-vision needs. If diagnosed as a low-vision patient this means that prescription eye-wear, contacts or surgery cannot fully correct your visual needs.  As your eye care team, we can provide information on low-vision aids, and resources that can help you adjust to life with low-vision.

Pediatric Eye Exams

Children’s vision exams are crucial and the timing of your child’s first eye exam is important so that the brain doesn’t adapt to blurry vision.  Dr. Bosak will perform a comprehensive eye exam to ensure proper development and healthy eyes for your child. He uses special equipment and techniques, when needed, for children that are too young to speak, that don’t require a response from the child.

Contact Lens Exams and Evaluation

Whether you are a daily wear, extended, soft or RGP lens wearer, Goodrich Optical is ready to provide you with comfortable and safe contact lenses.  After a thorough eye examination, Dr. Bosak will evaluate and recommend contacts that will provide the comfort, safety, and quality of vision you deserve.

Eye Emergencies

Avoid a trip to the ER and contact our office for your eye emergency needs. As a Therapeutic Optometrist, Dr. Bosak is ready and willing to help you with any eye concerns. From foreign body removal and eye injuries to ocular allergies, eye infections, and visual disturbances, we are able to treat and follow up on an extensive range of eye-related conditions to manage the risk of further ocular damage.
